Designed by veteran German police officer Florian Preik, this knife is born from real—world law enforcement experience and demanding requirements. Designer Background
Florian Preik has been serving in military and law enforcement roles since 1993 and currently works with the German Federal Border Guard (BGS). His support unit assists police in high—risk operations, including emergency response and pre—deployed enforcement missions, and also provides firearms instruction and training for extreme situations. He understands that in critical operations, every piece of equipment can be a matter of life or death.
Florian has always been deeply interested in modern police gear and firearms, investing heavily in his personal equipment. On one occasion, a privately purchased Kevlar vest saved his life when he was stabbed in the abdomen. This experience reinforced his belief that reliable gear can mean the difference between life and death. While his unit is not a special forces team like GSG9 or SWAT, as a platoon—sized support unit, they still rely on specialized equipment and capabilities to accomplish their missions.
Knife Development Journey
Recognizing the limitations of commercially available knives, Florian began designing his own. His first attempt was a Boker Speedlock folding knife, which performed well in many situations but fell short in critical tasks. In 2001, he designed his first 4—inch fixed blade in a Tanto style for stability, with a 6mm thick blade, a glass breaker at the end of the handle, a secondary guard, and a rough paracord—wrapped grip. The sheath was handcrafted from thick leather to balance protection and practicality.
Over the years, the knife continued to evolve: dimensions increased, the handle was refined to prevent slipping, and the sheath was upgraded. For over a decade, Florian searched for a manufacturer capable of producing his ideal knife. After comparing many brands, he chose WithArmour, as no other company could meet his strict requirements for strength, functionality, and reliability under extreme conditions.
